Our unique switchless calling platform terminates calls at 70% of the processing cost of, and ten times faster than, either the soft-switch technology now used by most major carriers or traditional switching systems. Our existing infrastructure and software platform has the capacity to terminate more than 1 billion call minutes per month without further capital equipment expenditure or any increase in our overhead expenses or other fixed costs. Our unique technology allows interconnection with new customers within an hour of contract execution rather than the days usually required for interconnectivity between most international telecommunications wholesalers and their new customers.
The Next Communications Network
The Next Communications Network is the private international network over which we deliver highest-quality international long distance voice and data telephony services at significant cost savings. In 2007, we transmitted more than 3 billion minutes of traffic over the network. In its present configuration, the network has capacity to transmit more than 12 billion minutes of traffic per annum. The network's architecture is scalable and proprietary, and we will increase capacity as demand increases. The Next Communications Network consists of four principal elements:
Points of Presence. Points of presence digitize voice signals into data, allowing transmission and retrieval over a broadband data network.
The Transmission Medium. This is the Internet, which is the backbone of the Next Communication Network.
The Next Voice Platform Controller. This is our proprietary software and switchless routing platform, which is the heart of the Next Communications Network. The system deploys a Cisco XR 12000 platform with integral Session Border Control ("SBC") functionality, enabling voice and data call access control, ensuring that bandwith is available to support sessions before they begin, and facilitating per-session control and management of IP voice and multimedia traffic on standards-based protocols such as SIP and H.323. The system can scale to support more than 200,000 simultaneous sessions on a single chassis. Our Next Voice Platform Controller is located within our Global Network Operations Center in Miami, Florida. In case of controller failure due to hurricane damage or any other exigency, we maintain a fully-redundant backup Next Voice Platform Controller at a secure location in another region.
The Next Global Network Operations Center. This is the facility which houses our primary point of presence and the Next Voice Platform Controller, and from which we monitor and manage the voice and data traffic transmitted through the network.
